The first day of the inaugural Lone Star Smokeout may have started off with a rain delay, but that didn't stop those flocking to AT&T stadium in Arlington from having a Texas-sized party this weekend.

The first-ever expansion of the Smokeout festival concept (brought to you by the same company who runs Chicago's Windy City Smokeout) featured barbeque from 14 of the nation's best BBQ teams, including DFW local joints like Hurtado Barbecue and Panther City Barbecue.

The festival also featured several brand pop-ups, including a Tecovas boot branding station, clothing vendors, and of course a wide array of drink options ranging from the Coors Banquet trailer to Fletcha Azul's swingset haven to the iconic orange Aperol tent.
The afternoon was filled with music acts starting around 4pm and culminated in headlining sets from two Texas natives- Randy Rogers Band and Cody Jinks.
Originally from San Marcos, Randy Rogers band got the crowd going with a beautiful sunset set filled with fan favorites like "In Your Arms" and "Kiss Me in the Dark". Kicking off their set with "Buy Myself a Chance", the band had the entirety of the parking lot at AT&T Stadium on their feet and grooving along.
Closing out night one was outlaw country singer/songwriter Cody Jinks, who let the crowd in on a little secret: he was born right down the road at Arlington Memorial Hospital. Jinks' set was an homage to Texas- his set started with a honky tonk in the background complete with a pool table and neon signs buzzing on the wall. His stage setup had Texas road signs and old gas station signs reminiscent of a drive through West Texas and set the mood for Jinks' unique style and sound.
Halfway through Jinks' set the rain returned, but that didn't stop festival goers from singing along to every word from the opening chord of "Outlaws and Mustangs" to the closing strum of "Loud & Heavy".
As the crowds departed the stadium on day one, it was clear the love for Lone Star Smokeout was just getting started.
